MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements must be met if you are applying to Manitoba International Education Stream – Graduate Internship Pathway:
1- Education in Manitoba
2- Language Ability
You must have an approved test results taken within two (2) years and have obtained a minimum score of Canadian Language Benchmark CLB 7 in all for abilities in English or French (➨Appendix 5).
3- Internship in Manitoba
You must have completed a Mitacs (➨immilib.com/mitacs) Elevate or Accelerate internship program with an eligible industry and research enterprise in Manitoba.
4- Settlement Funds
You must show that you have enough money for you and your family to settle in Canada based on 50% of Statistics Canada’s Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) (➨Appendix 2), unless you are employed in a full-time, long-term position in Manitoba.
5- Residence in Manitoba
You must show the intent to continue to reside in Manitoba after nomination, including the submission of a Career Employment Plan demonstrating opportunities for a successful career track in Manitoba.
6- Ineligibility
- You are an international student who graduated in another province of Canada.
- You have current application in process through another immigration program.
- You have been refused by the MPNP within the last six (6) months.
- You are a temporary foreign workers currently working and residing in a province other than Manitoba.
- You are registered in the federal Live-in Caregiver Program.
- You are a refugee claimant in Canada, a failed refugee claimant, had a removal order, are prohibited from entering or being in Canada, do not have status in Canada or are living illegally in your country of residence.

WHAT STEPS SHOULD YOU TAKE?
Step 1: Complete Your Studies in Manitoba
In order to apply under the Manitoba International Education Stream – Graduate Internship Pathway, You must have completed a master or doctoral degree program in Manitoba
If you don’t have this, the first step would be to obtain an acceptance letter from a designated institution in Manitoba, apply and receive a study permit (➨Page) and complete your studies.
Step 2: Complete Internship Program
Elevate program is an annual fellowship for up to two years. Elevate includes a research management training program and a postdoctoral fellowship. Accelerate program is a paid internship at an organization that needs your expertise.

Step 3: Attend Information Session
Attending an information session is required before you submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the MPNP. To register for an information session you should email immigratemanitoba@gov.mb.ca with the subject line “MPNP Graduate Internship Pathway enquiry”.
Step 4: Submit an Online MPNP Expression of Interest
If you meet the minimum criteria, you can register and submit an Expression of Interest to MPNP. You must create a Government of Manitoba account at (➨immilib.com/MGI-Apply) and sign in to create an Expression of Interest. Within your online account you must choose “PNP for Skilled Workers” and follow the instructions to submit the Expression of Interest (EOI).

Step 5: Submit Application to MPNP
You may be required to participate in an interview as reasonably required to verify information related to your application, or any other reason to be disclosed at the time of the request.

Express Entry Applicants: If you had an Express Entry profile when submitted your EOI, upon approval you will receive a nomination certificate through the Express Entry portal. The MPNP will also send you a nomination certificate that you should retain for your records.
When you accept a nomination, you are awarded 600 additional points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) (➨Page). This will help you quickly get invited to apply for permanent residence through your Express Entry profile.
Step 6: Apply for Permanent Residence
Non-Express Entry Applicants: If you are nominated by the Province of Manitoba, then your next step is to submit a complete application for a permanent resident visa within six (6) months (➨Page).
You must submit your application using the IRCC Permanent Residence Portal (PR Portal) (➨ immilib.com/PR-Portal).
Express Entry Applicants: If you have an Express Entry profile, you should apply for permanent residence (➨Page) through Express Entry if you’ve received an invitation to apply.
Your Express Entry invitation to apply is valid for sixty (60) days only.
Apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit (if applicable)
Step 7: Landing in Canada
You will only become a Permanent Resident of Canada when you cross a Canadian port of entry. This is referred to as ‘landing in Canada' (➨Page).
