An Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is used to verify that your foreign degree, diploma, or certificate (or other proof of your credential) is valid and equal to a Canadian one. There are different types of ECAs. You need to get an ECA when applying under many of the available immigration programs.

Assessment for specialist and family physicians
You must get your report from the “Medical Council of Canada” (➨immilib.com/ECA-MCC) if your primary occupation is:
- specialist physician (NOC 31100 and NOC 31101)
- general practitioner/family physician (NOC 31102)
If you have a different primary occupation, another designated organization can do your assessment.
Assessment for pharmacists
You must get your report from the “Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada” (➨immilib.com/ECA-PEBC) if your primary occupation is:
- Pharmacist (NOC 31120)
If you have a different primary occupation, another designated organization can do your assessment.
Assessment for architects
You must get your report from the “Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB)” (➨ immilib.com/ECA-CACB) if your primary occupation is:
- Architect (NOC 21200)
